Why This Training Matters Right Now
Most supervisor training teaches you how to supervise. Almost none of it asks how you are developing as a supervisor. If you're newer to the role, you may know the feeling: the quiet suspicion that you don't have enough to offer, the supervisee who asks a question you can't answer, the sense that you're borrowing an identity that doesn't fit yet. If you've been at it for years, you may have the opposite problem: a style that settled in a long time ago and hasn't been examined since. Both are stages, not verdicts. In this 3-hour live online training, we'll use the Watkins Supervisor Complexity Model and Ronnestad and Skovholt's lifespan phases to help you locate exactly where you are, look honestly at how your boundaries, use of power, and supervision style have developed, and apply a decolonized lens to how you hold authority. You'll draft your own personal theory of supervision and leave with a development plan you can start on the next day. For LCSW-S supervisors at any stage, LMSWs preparing for supervisor status, and social workers in agency supervisory roles.
